T- Rex is an English glam rock band formed in England. The group's debut album My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows (1968) reached number 15 in the UK. In the 1970s, they achieved mainstream success as a glam rock band with hits such as "Hot Love," "Bang a Gong, Get It On," "Telegram Sam," "Metal Guru," “20th Century Boy,” “Children of the Revolution” and almost a dozen more.
The band took off on a world tour last year. Kicking off their tour in front of 9,000 screaming fans sparked a Japan tour. T-Rex has thrilled thousands upon thousands of music fans throughout Europe, America and the Far East. T-Rex signed a recording deal with Spectra Records and will be releasing a Greatest Hits as well as a never before heard live album featuring all the classic T-Rex songs. T-Rex will also embark on a World Tour in 2010 in support of the new releases to carry on in true T-Rex fashion. T-Rex has currently toured with Thin Lizzy, Foghat, Sweet, Joan Jett, David Bowie and more.
T- Rex has vastly influenced the glam rock, punk rock and Britpop genres. Many modern indie bands play music heavily influenced by the glam scene. The early acoustic material was influential in helping to bring about progressive rock and 21st century folk music-influenced singers.
